Robert Englund Teases That He May Play Freddy For One More 'Nightmare On Elm Street'

Some of the biggest horror news in recent months has been Robert Englund's return as Freddy Krueger for a Halloween episode of "The Goldbergs." Before the episode's premiere this Wednesday, Englund appeared on Access Live. Of course, he was asked the same question he's been asked a million times, if he'b be willing to play Freddy again for a new feature film. His answer may surprise and delight you!

“I think they want to reboot the franchise, but they’re gonna need a new actor,” Englund told the show. “They’re gonna need a new actor to play Freddy because they’re gonna have to do eight of them. I might have one left in me… but yeah.”

Essentially, Englund is saying that he doesn't have it in him to play Freddy for a whole new franchise run, but he may be willing to don the old stripped sweater one more time! Previously, Englund would completely shoot down the idea of ever playing Freddy again, so it looks like coming back as Freddy for "The Goldbergs" made him realize what he's missed all these years.

With the horror genre doing better than ever, New Line would be complete fools not to jump at the chance of bringing Robert Englund back as the Springwood Slasher, even for just one last time.

Would you like to see a franchise reboot with Englund returning for one last film? Who do you think is capable of taking his place if the franchise continues? Let us know in the comments!
