It's been known in the horror community that whenever Greg Nicotero directs an episode of "The Walking Dead," there's more than likely going to be a tribute to a favorite horror film. Most of the time, this is in the form of a zombie that's been made to look like an iconic zombie from past horror films. But last weekend's episode, "What Comes After," featured a brilliant Easter Egg that many of you probably missed!
After escaping from a zombie horde, bleeding out, and barely clingin to life, Rick takes refuge in a cabin that looks suspiciously similar to the cabin from The Evil Dead. Cool? Yes! But the fun doesn't stop there. Not only is there a deer head hanging on the wall in the cabin, there's also a Necronomicon cleverly placed in plain sight!
Being that Nicotero worked on Evil Dead 2 early in his career, this is definitely a nice treat for horror fans and a fantastic nod to Nicotero's previous work in the industry.
