Orion's 'Child's Play' Remake Gets A Release Date And "Buddi" Doll Poster

While Don Mancini's original franchise continues to thrive with an upcoming Child's Play television series and quite possibly more films. MGM and Orion are pressing on with their Child's Play remake. Today we've learned that the remake, directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid), will be arriving in theaters on June 21st, 2019, the exact same day as Toy Story 4...not sure if that's the wisest decision.

The film's official poster art was also released, teasing a new "Buddi" doll in place of Good Guys, a new version of Chucky (we're not sure if this doll will carry the name) for a new generation of horror fans, maybe?

"Child’s Play follows a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature."

The film stars Aubrey Plaza ("Parks and Recreation") as Karen, Emmy and Tony nominee Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta") as Mike and Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out) as Andy, principal photography commenced in Vancouver.

Klevberg will direct from Tyler Burton Smith’s (Kung Fury, Quantum Break video game) screenplay based on the original motion picture.
