Troy Escamilla, in collaboration with Fright Meter Films, is set to produce his third feature film, titled Teacher Shortage. Penned by Escamilla, it will focus on a group of teachers at a small town high school who are being stalked by a masked killer. Horror icon and Scream Queen Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre) is set to star in the film alongside veteran horror actress Debra Lamb (Beverly Hills Vamp) and emerging indie horror actress Kaylee Williams (Model Hunger, The Lashman, Porkchop 3D).
Escamilla has a goal of raising $10,000 by November 30th with the Teacher Shortage campaign. Currently, the campaign has reached 40% of its goal with just fifteen days remaining. There are a plethora of great rewards available for backers including the opportunity to pre-order the DVD or Blu-ray of the film, cast signed posters, and producer credit. Troy Escamilla knows and respects the horror genre. He founded the Fright Meter Awards, which have grown in respect and popularity over the last few years with global backers that make up the over 50 member international Award Committee, including bloggers, writers, directors, producers, actors and fans in the horror genre.
Fright Meter Films last two feature films, Party Night and Stirring (retitled Mrs. Claus by distributor Wild Eye Releasing), were both successfully funded on Kickstarter. Also written and directed by Escamilla, both films received very positive reviews from sites such as Dread Central, iHorror, The Horror Sydicate, and PopHorror and won several awards on the festival circuit.
He promises Teacher Shortage will not disappoint: “Fans of the slasher genre will enjoy the hell out of it; it’s bigger, bloodier and bolder than my previous two films! Fans will also appreciate that it’s a unique take on the subgenre; instead of your typical teenagers and college students being the victims, Teacher Shortage’s killer is targeted a group of high school English teachers!”
