Plot Details Revealed For The Currently-Shelved 'Alien: Awakening'

Alien LV-426

Back in 2017, Alien: Covenant released to mixed reviews from fans and critic alike. Despite all of that, director and franchise creator Ridley Scott claimed that many more films were planned for the Alien universe, though nothing was ever greenlit by 20th Century Fox.

Things became even more complicated for the franchise's future when Disney began pursuing the purchase of 20th Century Fox, a deal that's yet to be finalized. Myself and many other fans worry that Disney's acquisition of the franchise will lead to Xenomorph-less, more family-friendly films. As it stands, the next planned installment in the franchise, Alien: Awakening, has been shelved.

But maybe the film is better off in the vaults of film Limbo... In Empire Magazine's recent Alien Anniversary issue, Alien: Covenant co-writer John Logan revealed some details on the film.

Alien: Awakening was to focus more on the android David (Michael Fassbender) as he's pursued by vengeful Engineers for causing the Space Jockey genocide. He would be chased to LV-426, the planet where Ripley and the Nostromo crew first come in contact with a Facehugger during their exploration of a derelict ship. Basically, this sounds like a Xeno-less prequel to Alien.

It may be quite some time before another Alien film ever materializes but there are rumors swirling that a television series based on the sci-fi classic is currently in the works.

Stay tuned for more Alien-based details! In the meantime, let us know if you were a fan of Alien: Covenant in the comments below!
