Next year, MGM and Orion will release their remake of Child's Play with an upgraded version of the classic "Good Guys" doll, now known as "Buddi" (the killer doll will still be named Chucky).
Basically, one of the Buddi dolls will be remotely hacked, tuning it into a killing machine. No Charles Lee Ray possession or Brad Dourif voiceover in this one. A new website has been launched for the remake that offers up some new details on the high-tech Buddi doll.
On BestBuddi.com, you will learn that the new dolls come equipped with “a highly intricate cloud-backed voice recognition engine capable of identifying speech,” in addition to 20 different sensors and cameras with the ability to fluently understand commands in both English and Spanish.
The site also features wallpaper downloads and a few other interesting goodies.
"Child’s Play follows a mother (Plaza) who gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature."
The film stars stars Aubrey Plaza ("Parks and Recreation") as Karen, Emmy and Tony nominee Brian Tyree Henry ("Atlanta") as Mike and Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out) as Andy.
You can meet your new Buddi on June 21st, 2019.
