Remaking a film that's already a masterpiece and making it comparable in every aspect is no easy feat, but Luca Guadagnino completely reinvigorated Dario Argento's 1977 classic and created an entirely fresh and unique take that outshines the original in many ways.
One of those ways being the films gruesome practical effects. The film gets rather nasty at times and features some very unsettling scenes. In the video below, special effects artist Mark Coulier details the various sequences seen in the film.
"A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up."
Suspiria stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf and Chloe Grace Moretz.
