Legendary Entertainment Is Remaking 'The Toxic Avenger'


The Toxic Avenger Remake Legendary Pictures

New Jersey's toxic superhero is headed to Hollywood.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Entertainment has acquired the rights to to The Toxic Avenger and a remake/reboot of the classic Troma film is currently in the works.

Rleased in 1984, the original film spawned three sequels and an animated series, titled "Toxic Crusaders."

“Tromaville has a monstrous new hero. The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose.”

Troma founders Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are set to produce the new film project alongside Legendary’s Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter.
