Over the past year, Jenn Wexler's The Ranger has worked its way through multiple festivals and has garnered many accolades throughout its journey. Today, we have news that the film will finally be getting a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack release on January 22nd, 2019, through Black Fawn Distribution.
The releases special features will include feature commentary with cast and crew, five "making of" featurettes, and the film's trailer.
Sean reviewed the film during its theatrical run and said "Wexler had a clear vision of what she wanted The Ranger to be and executed it exceptionally well."
In The Ranger,
“When Chelsea and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low-and get high-in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea’s got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she’s not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority- an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.”
The film has been lauded for its standout performances from Chloë Levine as the pink-haired punk with a secret, and Jeremy Holm as the maniacal ranger, ready to get his hands bloody in defense of the woods. Granit Lahu, Jeremy Pope, Bubba Weiler, Amanda Grace Benitez, Jeté Laurence and horror icon Larry Fessenden round out the cast.
