It was just yesterday that we shared with you the first ever photos from Jordan Peele's Us, which will see a trailer release on Christmas day. One of the photos shared yesterday featured star Lupita Nyong’o handcuffed and wielding a weapon, possible looking to make an escape. A brand new shot from Empire reveals that she was successful.
“This image captures Adelaide as she approaches the threshold of a nightmarish journey, prepared to kill anything everything in her way,” a source told the magazine.
"The story is set in the present day and follows Adelaide and Gabe Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke) as they take their kids to Adelaide’s old childhood beachside home in Northern California for the summer. After a day at the beach with the Tyler family (which includes Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker), Adelaide — who’s haunted by a lingering trauma from her past — becomes increasingly more paranoid that something bad will happen to her family. As night falls, the Wilsons see four figures holding hands and standing silently at the bottom of their driveway…"
Written and directed by Peele, Us also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anna Diop, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Madison Curry, Cali Sheldon and Noelle Sheldon.
Universal has dated the film for a March 15th, 2019 theatrical release.
