David Harbour Promises 'Hellboy' Is Very Gory And Brutal

Hellboy David Harbour Brutal Trailer

Some of you may have been let down by the lack of a darker tone and brutality in the newly released trailer for Neil Marshall's Hellboy. But we can assure you that the film is very much "R" rated and won't skimp on the red stuff. In a video recap featured on IGN, star David Harbour (Hellboy in the new film) backs that statement up.

“This movie is gory… it’s like a horror movie. There’s a lot of blood in it. It’s brutal,” Harbour mentions in the video.

He also talks about the trailer's epic final moments, “I remember showing some friends of mine this trailer, and they said, ‘God, I hope you hack so many people up with that sword of flame.’ If that’s what you want too, you will not be disappointed.”

Hellboy also stars Milla Jovovich as villainous sorceress known as the Blood Queen, with Ian McShane in the role of Professor Broom and Daniel Dae Kim playing Ben Daimio. Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida; and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan with Sophie Okonedo (After Earth), Brian Gleeson (mother!) and Alistair Petrie (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

"The new story sees the hero squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind."

The film arrives in theaters and IMAX on April 12th, 2019.
