It's safe to say that Shudder totally dominated horror streaming in 2018 and we're sure that they'll continue to do so throughout 2019!
It's been revealed today that Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, an upcoming documentary based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, will be arriving exclusively on the streaming service on February 7th, following its World Premiere at Hollywood's Egyptian Theatre (in partnership with Beyond Fest and the American Cinematheque) on February 1st.
Horror Noire will also be screened at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on February 4th.
The documentary takes a critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both black filmmakers and black audiences. Featuring interviews with Ernest Dickerson (Bones), Rusty Cundieff (Tales from the Hood), Jordan Peele (Get Out), Tina Mabry (Mississippi Damned), Tony Todd (Candyman), Paula Jai Parker (Tales from the Hood), and Tananarive Due (My Soul to Keep).
The film is directed by Xavier Burgin and is executive produced by Coleman, Due, Fangoria Editor-in-Chief Phil Nobile Jr., and Stage 3 Productions' Kelly Ryan, with Ashlee Blackwell and Danielle Burrows producing and co-writing.
