Kelly Marcel Returns To Write Confirmed 'Venom' Sequel

If you enjoyed Sony Pictures’ Venom, then we have great news for you as the studio has more of the same thing planned with the upcoming sequel. According to Variety, the studio has tapped the first film's writer Kelly Marcel to pen the script, she will also executive produce. Even more importantly, Tom Hardy will return as Eddie Brock.

Michelle Williams is expected to rejoin Hardy, as is Woody Harrelson, who will portray Carnage in the sequel. A director has not yet been set, though sources say the studio might look for a new filmmaker as Venom helmer Reuben Fleischer will be busy shooting the sequel to Sony’s Zombieland.

Venom, hailing from Sony Pictures’ arsenal of Marvel characters, grossed a massive $855 million worldwide. The news comes after the studio recently dated an untitled sequel for October 2020. Comic-book enthusiasts put the pieces together to assume Venom 2 would be given the same release slot as its predecessor, the site noted.

Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal will return as producers.

In case you missed it, the first film is now available on home media.
