'Slaughterhouse Rulez,' A Nick Frost/Simon Pegg Horror Comedy You Should Follow

Slaughterhouse Rulez Simon Pegg Nick Frost Trailer

You'd think that the news of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost making their return to horror would've blown up throughout the horror community, or maybe that's just my immense love for the “Cornetto Trilogy” (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End) talking. But the latest collaboration between the comedy duo has been weirdly been slipping under the radar.

Slaughterhouse Rulez, directed by Crispian Mills, was announced two years ago and is the first film under Pegg and Frost's production banner Stolen Picture. The film was recently released in the UK this past Halloween and sadly, a Stateside release has yet to be announced, which could be the reason the film is relatively unknown. Getting to the point I'm trying to make, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will be starring in a horror comedy wherein they battle subterranean monsters...Get excited people!

Pegg explained to Digital Trends last year, “It’s sort of a horror comedy. It felt like the right thing for Nick and I to have as our first collaboration with Stolen Picture. It’s about a private school in the U.K. which sells off parts of its land to a fracking company, and the fracking company then unleashes a subterranean monster that terrorizes the school. It’s a big metaphor for the U.K. privatizing things, and it’s mixed up with some ridiculous, sloppy horror. So it’s right up our street.“

In the film...

"Welcome to Slaughterhouse, an elite boarding school where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness…and they’re about to meet their match. This ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally – when a controversial frack site on prized school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole, and an unspeakable horror to be unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as the pupils and teachers alike become locked in a bloody battle for survival…“

Judging by the film's trailer, Slaughterhouse Rulez is certainly a "distant cousin" of the "Cornetto Trilogy," even without the involvement of the trilogy's director Edgar Wright.

Mills directed and co-wrote with Henry Fitzherbert, The film also stars Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen.

While we wait for a U.S. release date, here's the film's trailer. Slaughterhouse Rulez arrives on Blu-ray in the UK on March 11th.
