James McAvoy Says Bill Skarsgård As Pennywise Terrified Him On The Set Of 'IT: Chapter Two'

James McAvoy Says Bill Skarsgård As Pennywise Terrified Him IT: Chapter Two

Thousands will see James McAvoy return as "The Beast" this weekend in M. Night Shyamalan's Glass, but he'll be the one who's being terrified when IT: Chapter Two arrives later this year. Speaking with “Good Morning America” today, McAvoy talked briefly about his experience on the film's set last year. McAvoy admitted that Bill Skarsgård freaked him out as Pennywise.

“He’s amazing. [Skarsgård] is terrifying,” McAvoy told the host. “He’s a lovely guy, and yet he really freaked me out. I remember standing there with the rest of the cast, all these adults, and we’d all done weird, freaky stuff. And we are all looking at each other going, ‘I don’t like being here. I don’t like being an actor today.’”

He added, “He really did, he really freaked me out. I never liked clowns as a kid.”

IT: Chapter Two, which Andy Muschietti returned to direct, arrives in theaters on September 6th, 2019.

The sequel also stars Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “Mama”) as Beverly, Bill Hader (HBO’s “Barry,” “The Skeleton Twins”) as Richie, Isaiah Mustafa (TV’s “Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments”) as Mike, Jay Ryan (TV’s “Mary Kills People”) as Ben, James Ransone (HBO’s “The Wire”) as Eddie, and Andy Bean (Starz’ “Power”) as Stanley.

Reprising their roles are Jaeden Lieberher as Bill, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley, Sophia Lillis as Beverly, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie.
