Matt Venne To Adapt Joe R. Lansdale's 'The Companion' For 'Creepshow' Series

Matt Venne Joe R. Lansdale's The Companion Creepshow

We have more Creepshow news for you this morning as Shudder moves forward with production in Atlanta, Georgia.

Production Weekly reports that Matt Venne (Mirrors 2, Fright Night 2, White Noise 2) will write the episode titled "The Companion," based on the 1995 short story by Joe R. Lansdale, Kasey Jo Lansdale, and Keith Lansdale.

In the story, “13-year-old Harold decides to explore the long-abandoned farm of the late Raymond Brenner, and finds that he’s got a new Companion: a murderous, indestructible scarecrow.”

Filming will begin with the Greg Nicotero-directed episode "Survivor Type," based on the Stephen King story that follows a man who's stranded on a desert island and does the unthinkable in order to survive.

Yesterday, we also told you that comedy writer/director Rob Schrab (Monster House, “Workaholics”, “Community”) will be directing an episode titled "Bad Wolf Down". That episode follows a group of World War II American soldiers, pinned down by a Nazi unit, resort to unholy and supernatural means to avoid capture, torture and death.

Creepshow, scheduled to debut on Shudder this year, will fulfill the promise of the original film's tagline “The Most Fun You'll Ever Have Being Scared.” Each episode of the anthology series will tell original fun and scary stories, and will be helmed by a different director. We hear that each episode with feature two stories.

Stay tuned for more details!
