Horror Anthology Series 'Folklore' Will Arrive On HBO In The U.S. Next Month


Folklore HBO United States Premiere

Back in October, HBO's six-part hour-long horror anthology series "Folklore" premiered on HBO Asia, but we had no idea if or when it would arrive stateside. Well that changes today!

Entertainment Weekly reports that "Folklore" will premiere February 1st on “on HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand and partners’ streaming platforms."

The series takes place across six Asian countries including Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Each episode is based on the respective country’s myths and folklore, featuring supernatural beings and occult beliefs. Overseen by different directors, each story was also filmed in the local language of the country.

Directors include Indonesia’s Joko Anwar (“Halfworlds,” “Satan’s Slave”); Japan’s Takumi Saitoh; Lee Sang-Woo (“Barbie,” “Dirty Romance”) from Korea, Ho Yuhang (“Rain Dogs”, “Mrs. K”) from Malaysia; Eric Khoo (“12 Storeys”) from Singapore, and Thailand’s Pen-Ek Ratanaruang (“Last Life in the Universe”) from Thailand.
