Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers air dropped onto the scene back in 1997 and followed a unit of futuristic soldiers at war with a race of giant alien insects intent on eradicating all human life. One of the best action films of the '90s, it went on to spawn two live action sequels and two animated features. Last we had heard, a remake of the original film was in the works, but now it seems a continuation may be in the works in the form of a new television series.
In a recent conversation with HN Entertainment, Starship Troopers writer Ed Neumeier touched upon the idea of the series.
When asked the following question: “Do you think that bringing back the old cast (Casper and them) could work as a sequel?” Neumeier told the site, “I don’t want to jinx anything, but we are talking about trying to do a television show that is based on that idea.”
The site also asked Neumeier about his thoughts on the remake.
“Well, I have mixed feelings about it [the reboot] because I think that what we did with the first Starship is almost not repeatable in a way."
