Don Mancini's 'Child's Play' Series Finds A Home At SYFY, Nick Antosca To Produce

With MGM and Orion gearing up to release their Child's Play remake in June, Universal and franchise creator Don Mancini will be continuing the original franchise in the form of a television series, and today we've learned that the series has landed at SYFY!

Deadline reports that Mancini will write the series' script for Universal Cable Productions, with frequent producer David Kirschner on board alongside “Channel Zero” creator Nick Antosca.

“I’ve long wanted to bring Chucky to television and Syfy is the perfect network for us,” said Mancini. “The show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

“I worked with Don on Hannibal and on Channel Zero for Syfy, so developing Chucky with UCP really feels like coming home,” said Antosca, who will serve as the series' executive producer. “Syfy is the perfect place to tell the next chapter in the Chucky saga and having the original creative team lead the project will help elevate the story we are excited to tell.”

The series continues a franchise of seven feature films, most recently 2017's Cult of Chucky. Last we knew, the series will continue the storyline from the movies.
