'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?' Movie Shifts To An Earlier Release

One of the most anticipated films of 2019 and one we've been waiting on for quite some time is Paramount Pictures upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark?, a feature film adaptation of the hit '90s Nickelodeon series.

The show revolved around a group of teenagers who referred to themselves as The Midnight Society. Every week, at a secret location in the woods, one members would tell a scary story to the rest of the group, some of which were based on public domain fairy tales, short stories or urban legends. The film will tell a completely new story from The Midnight Society.

Today we've learned that Paramount is making a slight shift in the film's release date, which will now open in theaters a week earlier on October 4th, 2019.

D.J. Caruso is directs the film that is written by IT writer Gary Dauberman, who says that the film will “honor the darker, scarier tone of the show.”

Caruso's previous directorial credits include Disturbia, The Disappointments Room, and xXx: Return of Xander Cage.
