In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s Alien, Fox has been putting a lot of work into continuing Amanda Ripley‘s story, the daughter of Ellen Ripley who we first met in the video game Alien: Isolation back in 2014. The initiative was teased with the “Read. Play. Watch.”, thus far we've learned the "Read" aspect is the comic book Aliens: Resistance, a sequel to the game, while the "Play" aspect is a new mobile game titled Alien: Blackout, which just launched last month.
So what could be the "Watch" part of the tagline? Well, Observer is reporting today that an Alien: Isolation animated series is on the way this year, courtesy of Axis Animation.
The site notes, “Sources tell us that an R-rated animated series based on the video game Alien: Isolation is being developed for a seven-episode run.”
They report that the series “could arrive as early as April,” while also adding: “We’re told the digital series may make its home on the Alien website, though that remains unknown at this time.”
While the fate of the Alien film franchise is currently unknown (with Fox soon to be purchased by Disney), Fox still shows major interest in expanding the franchise in various ways.
