Last year, we learned that Universal was creating a new direct-to-video adaptation based on the classic Doom video game franchise, and today we more details along with our first look at the film.
We now know that the film is titled Doom: Annihilation, and is presented by Universal 1440 Entertainment, the production arm of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film is set for a Fall 2019 release.
“The all-new film builds upon the legacy of the franchise, whose origins derived from the popular first-person shooter video game franchise, Doom.”
Doom: Annihilation was written and directed by Tony Giglio (S.W.A.T.: Under Siege), and follows a group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover it’s been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth.
Amy Manson (”Atlantis”), Dominic Mafham (Ophelia), Luke Allen-Gale(“Dominion”) and Nina Bergman (The Car: Road to Revenge) star.
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Bumblebee) and John Wells (“Animal Kingdom”) executive produced, with Jeffery Beach (Jarhead 3: The Siege), Phillip Roth (Death Race: 4 Beyond Anarchy) and Ogden Gavanski (Cult of Chucky) producing.
