Set in the early days of the zombie apocalypse and a prequel to "Z Nation," Netflix's "Black Summer" is a new series introducing all new characters from every walk of life.
The eight-episode series looks to feature a much darker tone than the rather comedic "Z Nation," which was cancelled last year by SYFY after its fifth season.
In the series, "Jamie King (Hart of Dixie) stars as a mother, torn from her daughter, who embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse."
The show is created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams and produced by The Asylum. Schaefer and Hyams serve as co-showrunners.
Season 1 of "Black Summer" takes a bite out of Netflix on April 11th.
