There's news taking the web by storm that the upcoming remake of The Craft is being produced by Blumhouse. Well, this is true and there's also a new director in talks, although they remain unknown at this time. This news comes from last week's edition of Production Weekly.
Three years ago, it was reported that Honeymoon director Leigh Janiak’s take on The Craft was set to be a sequel taking place 20 years later rather than a rehash of the film released back in 1996. It was said to center on a new group of women who discover the power of magic.
Janiak is no longer directing the film and according to Gizmodo, Zoe Lister-Jones (Band Aid) will now direct based on a script she wrote with Daniel Casey. This will be Lister-Jones’ first major studio film as a writer and director.
Two years ago, Daniel Casey was hired to rewrite the script that was originally penned by Janiak and Phil Graziadei.
The Craft is set to enter production this July.
The original film was directed by Andrew Fleming with Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk and Rachel True playing the group of teenage witches.
