If you missed out on the previous (and now sold out) Phantasm Blu-ray collection, Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported this morning that Well Go USA is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Don Coscarelli's cult classic Phantasm with another Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray set of the complete film franchise. This time, however, the new set will include an officially authorized, full-scale replica of the original killer sphere prop!
So if you've been anticipating another Blu-ray box set, you'll be able to get your hands on this new collection come this Halloween.
The "Phantasm Sphere Collection," in addition to all the Phantasm films and previous supplemental materials, will be packed with new extras. The centerpiece will be a meticulous 4K restoration of 1988's Phantasm II, personally supervised by Coscarelli. Other phantastic extras include a newly-created Dolby Atmos track of the original Phantasm (by Post Haste Digital) and a new, longer feature-length documentary on the making of Phantasm: Ravager.
More details and extras are soon to be announced.
Below you'll find early concept art by Aaron Lea featuring the two variants, one black marble, and the other white.
