Even though the horror films of the '80s will always be my go to, spending most of my childhood in the 1990s and more importantly, video stores, I developed an appreciation for many of the direct-to-video treasures that lined Flick Video's (a small video store in Canton, NC) shelves. Well, it seems that filmmaker Dustin Ferguson has the same affinity for films of that particular decade, as he's shining a light on the era with a new documentary!
Over the weekend, Ferguson announced Direct to Video – Straight to Video Horror of the 90s, a so-called “schlockumentary” that is currently in production.
“Filming the bulk of the interviews next month,” Ferguson said on Facebook. “There’s a TON of fantastic talent from a whole gob of direct-to-video 90s classics (and movies that became big hits on VHS) doing interviews and I will begin revealing just who in a couple weeks.”
Thus far, Ferguson has revealed that Ed Gale (Dolly Dearest) and Bobby Ray Schafer (Psycho Cop) have been confirmed for interviews with many more to be announced within the coming weeks.
