Long live the King.
The final trailer for Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters has arrived this morning, and while it doesn't really feature any footage we haven't seen, it brings all of the best footage together for an “ultimate” edit of all the previous trailers and TV spots. It makes the movie's message clear: King Ghidorah is the big bad monster, Godzilla is humanity's only hope. Check it out below, along with an epic new Chinese poster!
The sequel takes place five years after the first film.
"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance."
Directed by Michael Dougherty from a script by Zach Shields (Krampus, Trick 'r Treat), the film stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds and Zhang Ziyi.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released in 3D and 2D in select theaters and IMAX on May 31st.
