With Mike Flanagan's sequel, The Sleep Doctor, headed our way later this year, we've learned today that Warner Bros. has completed a 4K restoration of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, which will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival! We hope this means it'll also be released on home video.
As reported by Indiewire, Alfonso Cuarón will present the remastered version of Kubrick's The Shining as a part of this year’s Cannes Classics lineup!
The 4K remastering was done using a new 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative.
“The mastering was done at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging, and the color grading was done by Janet Wilson, with supervision from Stanley Kubrick’s former personal assistant Leon Vitali.”
We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear of a 4K Ultra HD release!
Cannes runs from May 14th to May 25th.
