Directors Announced BBC Netflix Dracula

Danish actor Claes Bang (The Girl in the Spider’s Web) will take on the role of the title character in BBC and Netflix’s upcoming "Dracula" series, alongside a previously announced cast that includes John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark and Lujza Richter.

Variety announces today that Jonathan Aris, Sacha Dhawan, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Catherine Schell, Youssef Kerkour and Clive Russell have also joined on.

The site reveals, “Production is now underway, with Jonny Campbell (“Westworld”) directing the opening installment. Damon Thomas (“Killing Eve”) and Paul McGuigan (“Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool”) will helm Episodes 2 and 3, respectively.”

Written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the brand new mini-series is inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic novel and will re-introduce the world to Dracula.

“In Transylvania in 1897, the blood drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victorian London.”

The series will consist of three 90-minute episodes and is set to launch in late 2019 or in 2020.

"Dracula" was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content and Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama. Executive producers are Gatiss, Moffat and Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films, Ben Irving for BBC and it will be handled by Larry Tanz for Netflix.
