SC Films Comes 'Alive' With New Horror At Cannes

We've learned today that UK sales outfit SC Films International has boarded international rights to the North American horror/thriller Alive from genre director Rob Grant (Harpoon).

Our own Chase Wills reviewed the film out of last year's Blood in the Snow Film Fest and stated, "Alive is the sort of cinematic experience that borders on cruelty…but in a very enjoyable way, like S&M at the hands of a wild-eyed lover who may or may not murder you before the climax."

In Alive, a severely injured man and woman awake in an abandoned sanitarium only to discover that a sadistic caretaker holds the keys to their freedom and the horrific answers as to their real identity.

Rising stars Thomas Cocquerel (Table 19, In Like Flynn) and Camille Stopps (TV’s "The Strain") play the embattled patients with industry stalwart Angus Macfadyen (Saw III & IV, Braveheart) assuming the mantle of the barbaric captor.

Alive’s hyper realistic practical effects come from veteran prosthetic talent David Trainor and the film’s unsettling atmosphere is courtesy of production designer Bobby Vanowen. Both provided their services to the hit Netflix series "Black Summer".

Chuck McCue and Jules Vincent penned the screenplay and also produce alongside Lars Lehmann (Knuckleball) and Michael Peterson (Harpoon).

In the UK and Ireland, Alive will be distributed by Blue Finch Films as part of a growing slate of festival driven genre titles including SXSW midnighter Body At Brighton Rock and Venice 2018 title Dachra. The North American deal will be announced imminently.
