Brutal Red Band Clip Shows Off New Footage From 'BrightBurn'

BrightBurn TV Spot Red Band Clip

James Gunn returns to his horror roots with the David Yarovesky-directed, anti-hero horror movie BrightBurn, which has been rated "R" for "horror violence/bloody images, and language," and that rating is prominently on display in a new Red Band clip uploaded by IGN today.

Check out the clip below, along with a new TV spot also features some new footage.

Elizabeth Banks stars in the super-villain movie that mashes up a Superman-like origin story with creepy kid horror. In the film, a child (Jackson A. Dunn) from another world crash-lands on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proves to be something far more sinister. The boy dons a particularly creepy mask seen in the trailers and these new images today.

"About a year ago my brother Brian, my cousin Mark, director David Yarovesky, producer Simon Hatt and I started coming up with an idea for a horror film that excited me in a way nothing outside of Guardians has in years – it was personal, and different, and perfectly suited for our times. And, yes, terrifying," Gunn had said last year.

Yarovesky directs from a script written by Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn, the film also stars David Denman, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner.

BrightBurn hits theaters on May 24th, 2019.
