'Dream Warriors' Director Chuck Russell's Remake Of 'Witchboard' Continues Devel

Directors of UK’s Grimmfest, Manchester UK’s Genre film festival, are launching a new production company, Grimmfest Films, and as we told you earlier today, one of their upcoming projects is a sequel to Jason Lei Howden's heavy metal horror-comedy Deathgasm Part 2.

We've now learned, via Screen Daily, that another film on their slate is Dream Warriors and The Blob director Chuck Russell‘s Witchboard, a re-imagining of the same-named 1986 hit horror movie.

The site notes, "Grimmfest’s development slate includes Chuck Russell’s Witchboard, a reimagining of the 1986 horror of the same name, which is co-written by Russell and producer Greg McKay. Grimmfest will co-produce the project, on which it is partnering with Falconer Pictures, M2 Media Post Inc and Minds Eye Entertainment."

Back in 2017, Russell told Bloody Disgusting that "It uses the original as a springboard to take us into a far deeper supernatural fantasy."

In the original film from writer/director Kevin S. Tenney, "Friends playing with an Ouija board at a late-night party unleash a demonic spirit who begins hunting them."
