Gary Dauberman Promises 'IT Chapter Two' Is Bloodier Than The First Film

As you could probably tell in yesterday's trailer, a decent amount of red syrup was put to good use in Andy Muschietti's IT Chapter Two, and if that wasn't enough proof, Jessica Chastain recently teased that one of the scenes in the sequel could feature more fake blood than we’ve ever seen in a single scene of a horror movie. We can only assume that she's talking about the scene pictured above.

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, writer Gary Dauberman also confirms that IT Chapter Two will be a bloodbath.

"[It’s] definitely bloodier than the first and it is just as scary, if not scarier," Dauberman told the site.

He adds, "The two movies feel like a complete whole. This feels like a natural progression and extension of the first."

Dauberman also told the site that Adrian Mellon's murder will be featured in Chapter Two.

"It is an iconic scene in the book and one we wanted to include in the movie," he explained. "It is the first attack in present-day Derry and sets the stage for what Derry has become. It is the influence of Pennywise even while he is hibernating, and it’s pure evil what happens to Adrian. These bullies working through Pennywise was important for us to show."

Pennywise returns to theaters on September 6th, 2019.
