Children Accidentally Shown 'La Llorona' Instead Of 'Detective Pikachu' At Cinema

La Llorona Detective Pikachu Accident Montreal

Once again, a group of children expecting to enjoy a magical trip to the cinema have been subjected to a rather horror-ific surprise as they were instead shown the beginning of The Curse of La Llorona!

IndieWire reports that Parents who had taken their children to see the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu realized something was amiss when horror trailers began playing at the showing at the Guzzo Marche Central cinema in Montreal.

As documented by ScreenRant's Ryan George on Twitter, trailers for Annabelle Comes Home, Joker and Child's Play played – not exactly the trailers you's expect to see before family-friendly fare. Children reportedly began crying during the trailers and things only got worse for them as the start of The Curse of La Llorona was shown, which opens with a scene showing a mother drowning her child! Oops!

After parents complained to cinema staff, the film was turned off and the audience was relocated to another theater where Detective Pikachu was actually being shown, but not before traumatizing at least a few of the young attendees.

This isn't the first time that innocent kids have been subjected to unintentional gore and horror in a cinema, as we recently told you of a Peppa Pig audience being show the trailers for BrightBurn and Ma, and last year, families were shown Hereditary instead of Peter Rabbit.

Ah, the joys of surprise horror movie screenings.
