Five years ago, director Robert Stromberg and star Angelina Jolie joined up for a reimagined the tale of the iconic Disney villain with Maleficent, a rather dark fantasy origin story that went on to be a massive success at the box office. A sequel is finally on the way, titled Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and today we have the film's teaser for you.
The film “picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora. Maleficent II continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.”
Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed the film from a story by Linda Woolverton. Elle Fanning reprises her role, with Deadpool star Ed Skrein playing the film’s villain and Michelle Pfeiffer is playing Queen Ingrith.
The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Robert Lindsay, Harris Dickinson, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville.
The sequel is produced by Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson with Matt Smith, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Michael Vieira serving as executive producers.
Mistress of Evil hits theaters on October 18th, 2019.
