John Carpenter Presented With The Golden Coach Award At Cannes

John Carpenter Golden Coach Cannes

Known for creating such classics as the original Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York, They Live, The Fog, and many more, there's no denying that John Carpenter is an absolute legend of genre filmmaking, and his work should be celebrated for generations to come.

And Cannes Film Festival did just that last night by honoring the horror master's four decade career with the Golden Coach award!

As Reuters notes, Carpenter "was presented with the Golden Coach award by the French directors’ guild at the opening ceremony of the Director’s Fortnight."

Fittingly for a filmmaker who is also a renowned pioneering composer who created or jointly composed the majority of his own film scores, the gala got underway with some eerie electronic mood music.

“It’s that transportation of an audience through the world of light and the shadows around it that I’m proud to be a part of,” Carpenter said at the ceremony.

What would you like to see the horror master do next? A new horror movie, perhaps?
