Leigh Whannel's 'The Invisible Man' Gets A March 2020 Release Date

The Invisible Man Leigh Whannell 2020 Release Date

Even though The Dark Universe is all but dead, Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell (Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3) are bringing The Invisible Man back to the big screen with a brand new vision on March 13th, 2020, Universal announced this week.

The new take on the timeless horror character will begin filming this Summer.

The film follows Cecilia (Moss), who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better. However, her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.

“Reid will play the character of Sydney. With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is very capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model, but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.”

The lower-budget film is said to be character-driven and scary.

Whannell wrote and is directing the new take on the iconic character.

Additionally, new takes on other Universal Monsters are currently being pitched, and with a vast array of characters to choose from (Frankenstein's monster, the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, etc.), we may be hearing of new takes on more iconic characters rather soon. Hopefully Universal can get it right this time!
