[Trailer] Emile Hirsch Locks His Daughter Away From The 'Freaks' Outside

Freaks Trailer Emile Hirsch Well Go

Last September, we told you that Well Go USA had purchased Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky’s sci-fi thriller Freaks for a whopping $2 million following its its World Premiere in the Discovery section at last year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Today, io9 has debuted the exclusive trailer and poster premiere, along with news that the film arrives in theaters on August 23rd.

In Freaks, which stars Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, Amanda Crew, and Lexy Kolker, a disturbed father (Hirsch) locks his 7-year-old daughter (Kolker) in a house, warning her of mysterious dangers outside. But the mysterious Mr. Snowcone (Dern) convinces the girl to escape and join him on a quest for family, freedom, and revenge.

The film was financed by Wise Daughter Films, in association with My Way Productions and Storyboard Capital Group. It was written by Lipovsky and Stein, and produced by Lipovsky, Stein, Jordan Barber, and Mitchell Waxman. Executive producers were M. Alan Stein, Rick Alyea, Philip Kim, and Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard.

The trailer feels a lot like Lenny Abrahamson’s Room with a supernatural twist.
