Director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) returns this July with alligator horror film Crawl, and as expected, the creature feature has received an “R” rating from the MPAA!
Crawl has been rated “R” this week for "bloody creature violence, and brief language."
Who's ready for some gruesome alligator carnage!?
In the film, "When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears."
The film looks like a mix of several great killer animal features from the past, blending elements of Rogue, Burning Bright, Deep Blue Sea, Bait, The Shallows, and many more.
Aja directs from a screenplay by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen. Producers are Craig Flores (300), Sam Raimi (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead) and Aja.
