With the recent success of film like The Meg, 47 Meters Down, and The Shallows, it has become rather obvious that creature features are hot once again! Along with Alexandre Aja's upcoming Crawl, we've learned today that we're getting a brand new giant snake movie to go with all the killer shark and gator horror!
Constantin Film and JB Pictures are fast-tracking development on an as-yet-untitled action-horror movie based on the re-emergence of the Titanoboa, an ancient snake measuring 42-feet long, Deadline reports today!

“Titanoboa is an extinct genus of very large snakes that lived in what is now La Guajira in northeastern Colombia. They could grow up to 12.8 m (42 ft) long and reach a weight of 1,135 kg (2,500 lb). Fossils of Titanoboa have been found in the Cerrejón Formation, and date to around 58 to 60 million years ago. The giant snake lived during the Middle to Late Paleocene epoch, a 10-million-year period immediately following the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event.”
Tony Giglio (Resident Evil: Afterlife, Doom: Annihilation) is aboard to write the screenplay.
JB Pictures’ Jeremy Bolt and Constantin’s Robert Kulzer are producing the film, which is slated to shoot in 2020.
