The always wonderful Arrow Video spent this morning announcing all of their August 2019 releases, which include brand new Blu-rays for the brutal revenge thriller Oldboy, along with the widely-overlooked 1976 slasher Alice, Sweet Alice.
Arrow is giving Park Chan-wook’s absolutely phenomenal Oldboy a 3-disc Limited Edition Blu-ray, as well as standard 2-Disc Blu-ray and DVD releases. Possibly the definitive example of extreme Asian cinema, Oldboy is a brutal, lyrical modern classic of the revenge genre. Sadly, the various offerings are UK only releases.
As for Alice, Sweet Alice, which stars a young Brooke Shields, who meets an untimely end in this religious-themed proto slasher par excellence from director Alfred Sole. The Blu-ray is releasing in the US and Canada and will boast a new 2K restoration.
Additionally, the Al Pacino-starring Cruising, directed by William Friedkin, is coming to Blu-ray from Arrow in August. It'll be available in the UK, United States and Canada.
