Rumors have been swirling for months but in a new chat with Parade, Sigourney Weaver has confirmed that she'll be back in Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters, which goes into production soon!
"It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!" Weaver told the site, adding that she’ll be reprising the role of Dana Barrett in next year’s sequel to the original film
We'd like to put emphasis on “working with the guys again“.
The site notes that Weaver will be reuniting with Dan Akyroyd and Bill Murray in the new film, who had been rumored to star. I don't know about you, but this sounds like a confirmation to us! Doesn't it?!
In the film, “A family moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.”
Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things,” IT), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel) and Carrie Coon (Widows) are also attached to star in the new film.
Sony has scheduled Jason Reitman’s sequel to be released on July 10th, 2020.
Reitman co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan. Ivan Reitman, Jason's father, who directed and produced the original 1984 film, will write, direct and produce.
