"I’m the world’s greatest superhero. I can do whatever the fuck I want."
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the duo who brought us AMC’s "Preacher," are bringing another comic book series adaptation to the small screen with "The Boys," based on the comics by Garth Ennis ("Preacher") and Darick Robertson.
Today sees the release of another insanely gory trailer, which doubles down on the violence and makes tremendous use of a Spice Girls song. We are absolutely going to love this show!
The series is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and their formidable Vought backing.
Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) directed the pilot, written by Eric Kripke, and the newly released teaser trailer delivers the gory goods seen in the original comics. Give it a watch below and be on the lookout for superhero who gives new meaning to "getting head"...
Elisabeth Shue, Karl Urban, Jennifer Esposito, Jack Quaid, Colby Minifie, Jess Salgueiro, Brittany Allen and Bruce Novakowski star in the Amazon series.
"The Boys" arrives on Amazon Prime July 26th, 2019.
