A24 has released a brand new trailer for Midsommar, Ari Aster's much anticipated follow-up to Hereditary, which is being described as a "post apocalyptic breakup movie" and "Wizard of Oz for perverts," while others have declared it a horror masterpiece likened to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The new trailer plays like a promo for a vacation retreat, highlighting the cult’s activities that range from dancing to "skin the fool" and even human barbecues.
Midsommar stars Jack Reynor, Will Poulter and Florence Pugh with Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia and Archie Madekwe.
"Pugh and Reynor play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult."
The festivities begin in theaters on July 3rd, 2019.
