After promoting their upcoming film, a remake of David Cronenberg's Rabid, the Soska Sisters, Jen and Sylvia, have been banned from Twitter. Accident or random act of surprising censorship? It's unclear why the above image was flagged, resulting in the account suspension, as I've seen MUCH worse while scrolling through my Twitter feed. With Rabid having its World Premiere at FrightFest in the UK next month, I hope that the twin filmmakers can get this mess sorted out and get their account reactivated as soon as possible.
"The remake will follow Rose (Laura Vandervoort), a young woman who, after an accident leaves her scarred beyond recognition, undergoes a radical untested stem-cell treatment. While turning Rose into the belle of the ball, the experimental transformation comes at a price."
Rabid is written by the Soskas and John Serge, and led by the twin sister horror-movie directors that established a huge following with the 2012 slasher film American Mary. With a modern and relevant spin from the woman’s perspective, and the addition of Vandervoort, the new Rabid is going to be a uniquely chilling, and captivating film.
The film also stars Ben Hollingsworth as "Brad", a fashion photographer with Hanneke Talbot ("Playing Dead") portraying Rose’s best friend Chelsea; and Mackenzie Gray ("Legion", "Riverdale") is arrogant fashion designer "Gunter". Rabid will also feature WWE superstars CM Punk as "Billy" and his wife, New York Times best-selling author AJ Mendez as "Kira".
