John Krasinski has returned to the director's chair for the sequel to last year's A Quiet Place, with the actor-filmmaker announcing on Twitter that filming has begun on the 2020 sequel today!
It appears at this time that the film is simply being referred to as "Part II".
Thus far, it has been confirmed that Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will reprise their roles from the first film, with Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play) and Cillian Murphy joining them.
Krasinski wrote the follow-up for Paramount and recently stated that he doesn’t see it quite as a sequel so much as an expansion on the world he created last year.
"I think that we’re going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened," Brian Tyree Henry told Indiewire in June, "I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it…more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story."
This suggests that we'll be learning more about this cinematic universe's apocalypse when the film is released next year.
We’ll venture back to A Quiet Place on March 20th, 2020.
