Out of Comic-Con today, Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple announced in Hall H that that spinoff series "Fear the Walking Dead" will be returning for a sixth season, the announcement made during the show’s Hall H panel.
They also released the opening minutes of Season 5, Episode 8, seen below.
You can also watch the Season 5B Comic-Con trailer down below. The series will return for the second half of its fifth season on August 11th.
"The Walking Dead" kicks off its 10th season in October, it and "Fear the Walking Dead" will be joined by another spinoff series that’s expected to arrive sometime in 2020.
With all of this and the upcoming made-for-TV movies, it's rather clear that "The Walking Dead" universe isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
In Season 5, the group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place. With dogged determination, Morgan (Lennie James) leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts.
But trust won’t be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in uncharted territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.
