[Trailer] A New Legend Begins In Netflix's "The Witcher"

The Witcher Trailer Netflix Henry Cavill

The worst monsters are the ones we create.

Henry Cavill is Geralt of Rivia in Netflix‘s "The Witcher," based on The New York Times bestselling books that spawned a major video game franchise and expected to premiere later this year. Out of the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con comes the first official trailer, which shows Cavill's Geralt alongside Yennefer (Anya Cholatra) and Ciri (Freya Allan) in what looks to be Netflix's answer to "Game of Thrones".

It's worth noting that it was revealed during the Comic-Con panel that Cavill called daily until he landed the role over 206 other actors! He did his own stunts and is supposedly a big fan of the games. The trailer promises to deliver plenty of monsters, sex and violence.

"The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world,” said Sean Daniel and Jason Brown. “The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling."

Further "The Witcher" casting includes Eamon Farren ("Twin Peaks") as Cahir, Joey Batey (Knightfall) as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen ("House of Cards") as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson ("Wanderlust") as Istredd, Maciej Musiał ("1983") as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte ("Dickensian") as Dara, and Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss.

The full cast also includes Jodhi May ("Game of Thrones") as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson ("Fortitude") as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall) as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring (Kill List) as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni ("Black Earth Rising") as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read ("Profiler") as Sabrina, and Millie Brady ("The Last Kingdom") as Renfri.

Andrzej Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant on the series. Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, "The Expanse") and Jason Brown ("The Expanse"), partners at the Sean Daniel Company are executive producers, along with Tomek Baginski (Oscar nominated short The Cathedral, BAFTA winning The Fallen Art) and Jarek Sawko (The Fallen Art, Another Day of Life) from Platige Image, the Polish production and visual effects company.
