This doesn't really come as a surprise, bur Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter Two, a sequel to the rated "R" film from 2017, has also received an "R" rating this week.
While the MPAA handed IT: Chapter One an "R" rating for "violence/horror, bloody images, and for language," IT: Chapter Two‘s harder "R" rating suggests a much darker end to the saga.
Chapter Two has been rated R for "disturbing violent content and bloody images throughout, pervasive language, and some crude sexual material."
So it seems that Muschietti pushed the horror envelope even further for this film. This makes sense now that hes working with adult actors for the majority of the film. Expect a more intense, scarier and bloodier experience this September!
Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, IT: Chapter Two brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.
