Announced this past weekend, Amazon has pulled the plug on the horror anthology series "Lore" after just two seasons. The series, which had its second season premiere around Halloween last year, explored the real-life frightening and disturbing tales that gave rise to modern-day myths and legends. The series was based on the podcast of the same name and is soon to be adapted into a comic book.
In other cancellation news, Amazon has also axed Nicolas Winding Refn’s "Too Old to Die Young" after just one season. Brutal.
In more positive news, Amazon has renewed the sci-fi drama "The Expanse" for a fifth season ahead of the premiere of its fourth. The series originally aired on SYFY, with that network cancelling the show after three seasons and Amazon picking it up shortly after.
The fourth season of "The Expanse" arrives on December 13th. Deadline details, "The fourth season begins a new chapter for the series with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the UN to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them."
Finally, "Carnival Row," which premieres its first season on August 30th, has been renewed for a second by Amazon. The series, which stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man.
